Rock On: Josie Scott of Mark of Cain Embraces Her True Self!
Brace yourself for some electrifying news from down under! Josie Scott, the powerhouse vocalist and guitarist from the iconic Aussie rock band Mark of Cain, is embarking on a personal journey that promises to rock your world just as much as her music does.
After decades of making waves in the world of alternative rock, Josie has come out as a trans woman in an authentic and heartfelt revelation shared on social media. Talk about epic bravery!
In her post, Josie spilled the tea, saying, “As I’ve aged and mortality is ever closer, I’ve decided to embrace, rather than endure, who I am.” She’s been dealing with this inner challenge since she was 8 and decided it was time to shred those boundaries and fully rock out as her true self.
If there’s one thing the pandemic taught her, it’s that life’s too short to not live your truth. Thanks to a gnarly bout with COVID in 2022, Josie reevaluated everything. Seeing young folks living authentically gave her the courage to step into her true identity as a trans woman in her “autumn years.”
And guess what? The joy outweighs any challenges so far! Her friends and family have known her as Josie, or just Jo, and we are here for it!
For those tuning in late, the Mark of Cain, hailing from Adelaide, has been a staple in Aussie rock since the '80s and exploded onto the alternative scene in the '90s. With major fans like Henry Rollins (yup, he produced their third album Ill At Ease), TMOC is no stranger to shaking things up. The band’s legendary status was reaffirmed when Ill At Ease reentered the ARIA Albums Chart in November 2023, thanks to a deluxe edition release.
While TMOC had to cancel their appearance at the Froth & Fury Festival, they are itching to hit the road again by 2026. As for Josie’s big news? It’s all systems go! “Absolutely nothing” changes for the band; they’ll continue to crank out those hard-hitting jams with Josie as her true self.
Josie Scott’s revelation is a testament to staying true to yourself, no matter what. Can’t wait to see what’s next for her and the legendary Mark of Cain. Rock on, Josie!
