Ninajirachi's Winning Streak!
Ninajirachi, the brilliant Aussie musician and all-around creative whiz, has just made a major splash on the music scene! Her debut album, I Love My Computer, snagged the prestigious 21st Australian Music Prize (AMP), putting her at the top of the charts. This album, out on Nina Las Vegas’ NLV Records, was given the glowing thumbs up by a panel of music industry gurus, crowning her as the 2025 AMP champ just this Thursday!
Big Wins, Big Dreams!
Ninajirachi, known outside the music galaxy as Nina Wilson, danced away with an epic A$50,000 prize, thanks to Soundmerch, the big-time sponsor. Feeling on top of the world, she said, “Thank you so much to the Australian music prize for awarding me this year, this truly means a lot to me!!” She poured her heart and soul into I Love My Computer, drawing inspiration from her coastal Aussie upbringing and the dance beats of her childhood. Her ultimate goal? To forever tell her stories through music.
November Gold for Ninajirachi?
November might just turn golden for Ninajirachi! Apart from her big AMP win, this 26-year-old superstar is in the running for a whopping eight awards at the upcoming ARIA Awards. She's slaying with nominations for Album of the Year, Best Solo Artist, and loads more!
Aussie Music's Oscars!
The AMP is like Aussie music’s version of the U.K.’s Mercury Prize. It's been around since 2005, aiming to uncover and celebrate the best new sounds from down under! This year, Ninajirachi faced off against incredible artists like Tropical F*** Storm and Folk B**** Trio, with 465 albums initially fighting for the prize. Only 50 were nominated, and finally just nine ruled the shortlist announced last month.
The AMP has a sweet history with previous winners like The Avalanches and Sampa the Great taking the trophy home. This year was another epic run, and the next AMP is all set for albums released between Oct. 1, 2025, and Sept. 30, 2026. So, Aussie artists, gear up!
