Charli XCX is Back and She's Bringing a Gothic Twist!

Buckle up, Charli XCX fans! The queen of pop is back with new music that's as thrilling and eerie as it gets. Last Thursday, Charli dropped a spine-chilling teaser for her upcoming track “House” featuring none other than The Velvet Underground's legendary John Cale. What's the jam? It's going to be part of the soundtrack for the highly anticipated Wuthering Heights film, and you're just a few days away from hearing it—release date is set for Monday!

Taking to Instagram, Charli announced this as “the first offering from my album for Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights.” Here’s the scoop: she felt instantly inspired to dive into new sounds for the film, ditching her old vibes to explore something totally fresh.

“When I think of Wuthering Heights,” Charli shares, “I think of passion and pain. Of England's wild Moors. Mud and sheer determination.” The teaser she dropped is pure vibes with its haunting violin strings and film-noir sound effects as Charli peers into the camera, captured by an elderly hand. Just when you thought it couldn’t get creepier, an ominous voice chimes in asking, “Can I speak to you privately for a moment?” and poof, a raven-like bird swoops across the screen. chills, right?

Charli’s a mega-fan of The Velvet Underground, and her admiration for Cale just spills through in her music. In fact, she latched onto a timeless quote from Cale: songs must be “elegant and brutal.” What did she do? She reached out to him, and the magic happened. The result? A collaboration that brought tears to her eyes and soon, yours too.

And for those curious film buffs, mark your calendars: Wuthering Heights starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, is dropping right on Valentine’s Day. Talk about a movie date! With Charli crafting the film’s soundtrack and calling the shots in her upcoming project The Moment, she's also starring in The Gallerist with Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega. 2026 is all about Charli's cinematic invasion, and we’re HERE FOR IT!
